Sunshine & Shadows
Jazmine Ava's Blues/Soul/Country style has burst onto the music scene, with a raw and original sound that inspires the roots of 'real' music. She reaches out with powerful, deep and heartfelt lyrics and with a voice that has stunned audiences all over. With Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash and Tracy chapman influences, her songwriting has been described as "...pure lyrical brilliance" (Musiczine Magazine) and "a truely talented performer" (Juice Fm Radio).
Jazmine Ava started playing acoustic rhythm guitar when she was 18 and began singing live in 2005, when she qualified with a BTEC National Certificate in Music Technology at Brighton College. Her unique blues style developed her quickly into playing at several prestigious venues and festivals including exposure on radio stations in Brighton, London and Essex – including The Komedia & Out of the Ordinary Festival in Brighton, The Bedford in London and Hylands House in Essex.
She self-released a critically acclaimed acoustic style debut album ‘Sunshine & Shadows’ in Dec 2007, which is a unique fusion of what she terms as 'Enchanted' Blues/ Folk with "a pop edge". Her captivating vocal performances and her outstanding songwriting ability to write powerfully honest songs about everyday life and experiences that we can all relate to, has meant that her fans transcend age, gender and nationality. In 2008 she returned to her original home of Essex – and formed a band of professional musicians who have helped to develop and arrange the next album of her songs called ‘Set Me on Fire’.
