Hi there, fans and friends of Jazmine Ava,
This newletter is late, - I'm still in shock and slowly surfacing from the excitement of a fantastic experience. I'm talking about the Charter Hall in june with 700 tickets sold. It was just great. Maybe I'm biased because I love Jazmine and her music and her songs, but I thought, the Jazmine Ava Band played like a dream, and on that night they sounded worldclass. The crowd loved it, lots of applause and recognition.
Peter Green, one of the great music legends of our time, was also in the audience - yes, the famous guitarist from the original Fleetwood Mac was amongst the punters- and he enjoyed the performance as much as any of the fans. He already had a copy of Jazmine's CD (which he liked), and wanted to hear her songs being performed live at a proper concert. His nephew Joe Green, who has played with Jazmine in the past at Hylands House, Chelmsford, joined the band for 'Man called Life' with his powerful and spirited saxophone. It was a memorable performance, brimming with strength and feeling.
In the interval Jazmine was selling and promoting her album-CD while Peter and Jo were happy to have a chat backstage, including an impromptu photo-opportunity, and we were privileged to take a few rare shots with the band. A personal autograph was the icing on the cake and gave the evening a special stamp of authenticity, - Peter Green liked it, . . .
Everybody I spoke to agreed that Jazmine Ava's performance on the night was a hard act to follow. The tribute band as main act struggled to maintain the same standard and quality and failed to keep the audience's attention towards the latter part of the program, leaving Jazmine to scoop up the glory for an enchanting evening.
The concert at Charter Hall became a glowing success for Jazmine Ava's Band as well as for her new promotion company, LaunchLive, which was the driving force behind the concert, and which had already gained some recognition and support in the local press. More musical entertainment is planned for the future, and up-and-coming venues i.e. on 8th and 29th this month, are advertised on the website.
Since Charter Hall I have been in a bit of a crazy daze, sleepless from watching and editing the home-made video : Such a brilliant night with those catchy tunes, and as a rare bonus a shoulder-rub with a musical hero from the past. Oh well, - all things must pass, it was a month ago. But I suggest you listen to Jazmine's songs on her site and u-tube while waiting for extra input. Watch out for a clip of Bob Dylan's 'Mr. Bojangles', well worth listening to!
The DVD of the whole concert, albeit not a professional effort, is acceptable in quality and a copy will be available for sale when Jazmine has completed her new album in the coming autumn.
Alf Black, still a tad starstruck
